
Peter Garrett, Minister for Environment Protection, Heritage and the Arts, praised EnviTE's commitment to providing training and job opportunities in the region during the launch of our $1.46 million project on 13 August.
EnviTE's project, which is part of the Local Jobs Stream of the Australian Government's Job Fund initiative, has already resulted in the retention or creation of 41 jobs, as well as 40 new work experience positions and 9 new traineeships.

The region's paddlers once again took to Lismore's Wilsons River to take part in the hotly contested EnviTE Kayak Marathon on a clear sunny winter's day in early August.

Our recent workshop covering the effective control of cocks comb coral tree attracted a number of local agricultural producers who were keen to find out how to rid their land of the notorious pest.
"I never knew the best way to treat these weeds but now I'm a lot clearer on what to do to make sure they are dead", said one attendee.
"Treating coral tree means the health of the creek area is improved for native plants and animals. Bungawalbin Creek is an important link between Bungawalbin National Park and Yarringully Nature Reserve," said Ian Gibbs, EnviTE supervisor field operations.

Following the success of EnviTE's first round of National Green Jobs Corps (NGJC) teams, we are pleased to offer more environmental training and work experience opportunities to local young people.
Two more teams in Lismore and the Clarence Valley will commence in early August. Information sessions will be held on 29 July (Lismore) and 5 August (Clarence).

In May, visitors and partners were invited to a field day at Wompoo Gorge, a property located within the spectacular Wanganui Gorge, which connects Nightcap and Goonengerry National Parks. A wildlife corridor between the parks and home to 27 threatened species, it is no surprise this area is designated high conservation value.
However that is only half the story. The land within the gorge was cleared in the 1920's and while much of it has regenerated into rainforest, large parts were colonised by lantana.

In mid May, members of Jali Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC), partner organisations and the public gathered to acknowledge the achievements of Indigenous team members.
EnviTE has provided accredited training and mentoring to the team, who are working on site at Seven Mile Beach, near Lennox Head.
This important Indigenous training and restoration project, which has been running for just over a year, has been implemented by EnviTE in partnership with Jali LALC.
