Woolgoolga Littoral Rainforest and Themeda Grassland Restoration 2008-11

The Endangered Ecological Communities (EEC) on Woolgoolga Headland comprises a Themeda Grassland community and Woolgoolga Back Beach North contains a SEPP 26 Littoral Rainforest. The communities are located within Coffs Coast Regional Park managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) and Coffs Harbour City Council. A Vegetation Restoration Plan has been developed to guide strategic restoration works and monitoring and evaluation. Weed species, bitou bush, senna, vine weeds and exotic grasses are limiting the regeneration and growth of native species. Systematic bush regeneration works are being undertaken over three years.

Recovery Actions for Moonee Quassia and Square-stemmed Spike-rush 2007-09

The Recovery Actions for Moonee Quassia and Square-stemmed Spike-rush project has assisted with the implementation of habitat recovery actions for Quassia sp B (Moonee Quassia) north of Coffs Harbour and Eleocharis tetraqueta (Square-stemmed Spike rush) in the Clarence region. These species are listed as endangered under the Threatened species Conservation Act 1995 and the Moonee Quassia is also listed as endangered under the Commonwealth's Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Upper Kalang River Reach projects 2006-09

Upper Kalang River Reach project addresses the management of weed invasion, cattle access to the river and stream bank instability on 35 properties over 21 kilometres of stream. Bush regeneration aimed to control the threat of weed invasion and facilitate natural regeneration. Revegetation activities enhanced areas already under native vegetative cover, expanding habitat for fauna and improving stream bank stability. Fencing installation controlled cattle access to the riparian zone, facilitating natural regeneration and bank stabilisation.

Development and implementation of Local Government local-scale coastline NRM plans 2008-09

This project supports Local Government to undertake on-ground works to enhance High Conservation Value ecosystems along areas of coastline not encompassed within a completed Coastline Management Plan. Works in Kempsey Shire focus on a peninsular of 6 hectares at Crescent Head in the Killick Creek area. In Byron Shire the project focus is on the Suffolk Park area. In Ballina Shire EnviTE Environment is targeting restoration planning and works at Angels Beach, East Ballina. In addition to restoring coastal plant communities the project increases community awareness and involvement of coastal ecosystems.
