2009

  • New board members: Ashley Love and John Milne. Sad loss of Dee Wallace.
  • Changed registered name to EnviTE Inc, trading as EnviTE.
  • New organisational structure with three operating units: EnviTE Environment, EnviTE Training and EnviTE Employment.
  • Launched newly designed website.
  • EnviTE Employment

  • Awarded a Job Services Contract as a youth specialist in the Richmond employment service area (ESA). As a result, opened offices in Casino, with outreach locations in Kyogle, Nimbin and Woodburn.
  • Bids for employment services contracts in Ballina, Grafton and Coffs Harbour were unsuccessful and as a result, EnviTE closed three offices and let go of over 20 staff.
  • Over 15 years, we have assisted over 15,000 jobseekers.

    EnviTE Environment

  • The largest contract implementer for NRCMA and a key implementer of restoration and rehabilitation projects for the NSW Environmental Trust.
  • Managed major Big Scrub Landcare restoration program with a total budget of $400,000 for restoration over 80 sites within 12 months.
  • Worked on 10 NRCMA projects, 10 ET projects, 7 Caring for Our Country projects, and one National Resource Advisory Council project.
  • MERV enters trial phase under ‘real life' conditions. Response has been overwhelmingly positive.
  • 71 fee for service jobs for 50 different clients ranging from DECCW, local government and local landholders. Work was carried out on 144 sites between Bellingen and Tweed and consisted mainly of bush regeneration with 123 hectares of primary work and 119 hectares of follow-up work.
  • Planted over 10,000 trees covering a five hectare area.
  • Indigenous partnership highlights were: Working on Country Nimbin Rocks restoration with Ngulingah Local Aboriginal Land Council; Shannon Creek environmental message walking track with traditional owners and Clarence Valley Council; and, restoration of high conservation value heath and wetlands with Jali Local Aboriginal Land Council.

    EnviTE Training

  • Six local Aboriginal communities undertook accredited training programs.
  • Nearly 180 people obtained ChemCert licenses following accredited training courses in Lismore, Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
  • Training days held for DECCW and landcarers from Byron Bay to Dorrigo.
  • 53 young people graduated from Green Corps.
  • 130 unemployed people participated in short courses leading to award of skills certificate.
  • Held free community workshops across region, including tailored workshops for groups such as Southern Cross University students.

    2008

  • Program mix of employment and environmental services remains constant.
  • EnviTE is the only organisation in Australia to deliver Work for the Dole (WFD) and Green Corps for the past ten years.
  • EnviTE gains a Job placement Licence.
  • EnviTE re-approved as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
  • High employee retention rate with organisation now employing 68 staff members.
  • Accredited training incorporated into EnviTE WFD team projects.
  • EnviTE WFD project teams operating in Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga, Grafton, Lower Clarence, Lismore, Casino, Evans Head, Ballina and Brunswick Valley.
  • Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority major source of funding for Environmental Services.
  • The Natural Resources Advisory Council fund EnviTE to develop a Monitoring and Evaluation of Restoration of Vegetation (MERV) database.
  • Partnerships with private landholders increases significantly.

    2007

  • Staffing levels increasing significantly.
  • 16 EnviTE staff members were formerly Work for the Dole or Green Corps participants.
  • Organisation's gained a strong financial position with the annual budget almost tripling in the space of five years.
  • Introduction of Greentree accounting package.
  • The range of programs has also expanded markedly and the organisation was restructured over the past year to meet new demands.
  • Comprehensive staff training and development program implemented.
  • A significant information technology upgrade.
  • Won the Environment and Landcare Award.
  • Ray Strickland, of Maclean, made it through to be one of three finalists in the Best Supervisor category for the 2006 Prime Minister's Work for the Dole Awards.
  • Growth in the delivery of environmental services, particularly the implementation of Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority contracts.
  • Working on our largest commercial contract to date, which is with the NSW Department of Commerce and Leighton Contractors to carry out the restoration management of the Shannon Creek Water Storage Facility.
  • EnviTE was successful in regaining Work for the Dole (WfD) contracts for the next three years in Coffs Harbour, Grafton, North Coast and Richmond commencing on 1st July 2006.
  • Approved 39 WfD activities for 874 places; 1,888 participants commenced WfD placements.
  • EnviTE performing in the top 25% of all CWCs in the country with Star Ratings of 4 to 4.5 out of 5 in all areas with the highest rating placing us in the top 12%.
  • Celebrated 40th Green Corps project in ten years.

    2006

  • EnviTE has over sixty dedicated staff members.
  • Ecological Restoration - Past Present and Future conference held at Ballina during May, was an outstanding success.
  • Major organisation restructure aimed at delineating between employment and training programs and environmental services and field operations.
  • 2002 - 2006 Work for the Dole contract concluded with 2,776 places involving 212 activities. There were 5,782 participants who commenced placements.
  • For the financial year a total of 850 Work for the Dole activity places were approved including:
  • 383 brokered placements, 945 participants hosted by 240 community organisations,
  • Sixteen organisations sponsored Work for the Dole activities for 294 places and commenced 637 participants,
  • 173 activity placements were made in EnviTE sponsored project activities with 380 commencements.
  • In total, 1962 participants commenced Work for the Dole activities.
  • EnviTE placed 141 Community Work Participants in 111 not for profit organisations.
  • EnviTE produced a range of vegetation restoration management plans in consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders including local councils, community groups and private landholders.
  • Ten professional Environmental Services projects were undertaken.
  • EnviTE provided training in environmental restoration and implemented on-ground restoration works to over 37 projects.
  • Eleven Natural Heritage Trust contracts were managed by EnviTE on behalf of the Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority (NRCMA).
  • Cabins Beach and Susan Island and Yuraygir Habitat Enhancement Green Corps projects completed.
  • EnviTE provided expert advice and training to a range of agencies, groups and individuals involved in natural resource management.

    2005

  • Thirty-five Work for the Dole (WfD) project activities assisting local government, the Landcare network and community groups. Some of these projects are sponsored by other agencies.
  • Nine WfD brokered projects where participants are placed with host organisations in the community sector.
  • Fifteen WfD activities sponsored by other agencies in fields such as the arts, information technology, landscaping and construction.
  • EnviTE has managed 36 Green Corps Projects to date involving 360 participants.
  • Historic Littoral Rainforest Access to Hills Beach - Coffs Harbour, Tweed Coast and Estuaries and Koala Corridor Bundjalung walk Green Corps projects completed.
  • Fourteen environmental grants or contracts.
  • Twenty one projects implementing environmental grants obtained by other agencies.
  • Fifty one professional environmental services contracts.
  • Eight Natural Heritage Trust project from Tweed to Bellingen
  • EnviTE's information technology capacity, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), has been upgraded.
  • Office space was increased in Lismore. The Coffs Harbour office moved to larger premises.
  • In 2005 the ChemCert certificate was added to our delivery schedule. ChemCert training with EnviTE covers the safe use of chemicals with an emphasis on protecting the environment.
  • Provided training for Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) staff using a range of techniques including ‘Recognition of Prior Learning' and the ‘Assessment Only' option. DEC staff also undertook training from the Conservation and Land Management training package.
  • Rous Water engaged EnviTE to assess the competencies of bush regeneration staff.
  • EnviTE offered accredited training to program participants in OH&S from the Conservation and Land Management (CLM) training package.
  • EnviTE provided extensive training to Landcare and Dunecare group members in the area from Tweed Heads to Bellingen.

    2004

  • EnviTE successful in obtaining contracts for interim Natural Heritage Trust projects in the Upper North Coast and Northern Rivers Catchment Management Board areas.
  • This is a total of five projects commencing in 2004 valued at $293,000. Projects include:
    1. Blaxlands Creek River Health (UNC),
    2. Restoration and protection of streams in the Bungawalbin in conjunction with the Bungawalbin Catchment Management Group (NR),
    3. Tweed HCV in conjunction with Bushland Restoration and Rehabilitation P/L (NR),
    4. Kyogle HCV in conjunction with Richmond Landcare Inc. (NR) and
    5. Big Scrub HCV as part of the Big Scrub consortium (NR).

     

  • Environmental grants manager appointed.
  • Work for the Dole (WfD) contracts extended to 2006. EnviTE operates throughout the North Coast from Tweed Heads to Coffs Harbour having placed over 3,500 participants on WfD projects and providing assistance to over 200 community groups. EnviTE has offices in Lismore, Ballina, Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
  • Continued growth in the provision of professional environmental services.
  • EnviTE also manages projects funded through Green Corps, Australian Government Envirofund and NSW Environmental Trust.

    2003

  • EnviTE RTO (Registered Training Organisation) status updated. EnviTE accredited to deliver Conservation and Land Management Training package.
  • Operations from Bellingen to Tweed Heads with funding through Work for the Dole, Green Corps, Coastcare, Envirofund, NSW Environmental Trust, Professional Environmental Services and Training Delivery.
  • EnviTE a Community Work Coordinator for Work for the Dole in the Employment Service Areas of Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Richmond and North Coast from July 2002 to 2005.
  • New Environmental Trust projects funding include Grafton Dry Rainforest and Bush Regeneration Techniques on the North Coast Video.
  • Four Envirofund grants obtained including Richmond Catchment Community Bush Regenerators, Management of Woolgoolga Flora Reserve, Coffs Harbour Headland Care Workshops and Implementation of Coastcare Plans, Ballina Shire.
  • Over 40 contracts for Professional Environmental Services including Councils, NSW Agriculture and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
  • First EnviTE Green Corps project under the Job Futures / Greening Australia contract commenced in February 2003.

    2002

  • EnviTE contracted to provide activities for 1,091 Work for the Dole (WfD) placements from January 2000 to June 2002. Approximately 80 % of placements on environmental project teams and 20% individual placements with a wide range of not-for-profit community organisations. WfD environmental projects undertaken in Nambucca, Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga, Grafton, Maclean, Lismore, Goonellabah, Casino, Kyogle, Ballina, Byron Bay and Mullumbimby. Individual placements with over 100 community organisations.
  • Coastcare funding received for Tweed Coastal Group Restoration Plan Support - involving preparing Coastcare plans for groups in the Tweed. A project for the Brunswick catchment prepared by the Care committee involving EnviTE in preparing plans on behalf of groups was also funded.
  • NSW Environmental Trust funding for Ballina Shire Community Bush Regenerators project.
  • Steady growth in commercial environmental service provision with clients including local government, state government (NSW NPWS, NSW Agriculture), private landholders (DLWC Property Agreements) and others. Work includes preparation of vegetation restoration plans, seed collection, plant propagation, bush regeneration and revegetation.

    2001

  • Throughout the year, EnviTE undertook projects, either through Work for the Dole or Green Corps, in every major town from Bellingen to Mullumbimby.
  • The organisations financial position continued to strengthen.
  • Offices in Lismore, Grafton, and Coffs Harbour were upgraded.
  • A new office opened in Ballina.
  • EnviTE worked with 121 community groups
  • Coastcare Funding obtained for a Coastal Care Group Restoration Plan Support Project, which entails the completion of vegetation management plants for a number of Coastcare groups in the Ballina area.
  • NSW Environmental Trust funding was received in 2001 for the Ballina Shire Community Bush Regenerators Project which aims to assist volunteer groups in Ballina Shire. EnviTE staff work directly with groups on a regular basis assisting them with plant and weed identification, bush regeneration techniques and planning.
