One year into the project and Evans River catchment land owners are already seeing the benefits from environmental restoration work carried out by EnviTE Environment.
"The Evans River is an area of great natural beauty and conservation value," said Dan Cox, EnviTE Environment supervisor.
"We are working with landholders and the community to help improve the Evans River so it retains its beauty and health into the future."
So far, about 2km of riverbank has been restored as part of the Evans River Catchment to Coast Corridors project. EnviTE Environment's restoration works have focused on controlling weeds, including coral tree, coastal morning glory and lantana.
To date, regenerators have concentrated on the south side of the river in the upper catchment area with the goal of improving the health of the native vegetation, the river and the habitat for fish and wildlife.
EnviTE Environment has been contracted by the Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority (NRCMA) to carry out restoration and to liaise with with landholders. The project is funded by the NSW Environmental Trust and the Australian Government.
Contact us if you are a landholder along the Evans River and are interested in being involved in the next two years of the project. We can also help if you have coral trees along your riverbank and would like them controlled. |
