Work for the Dole
What is Work for the Dole?
Work for the Dole is a Commonwealth Government work experience program for unemployed people. It is a mutual obligation activity. The objectives of Work for the Dole are to:
  • Give job seekers valuable work experience opportunities
  • Help job seekers develop good work habits
  • Involve local community's in providing quality activities which support job seekers and assist them at the end of their activity
  • Provide local communities with facilities and services of value to them

EnviTE is a Community Work Coordinator, contracted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to manage regional projects, between Byron Bay and Bellingen. In addition to funding from DEEWR, EnviTE receives in kind contributions from some councils and community groups for Work for the Dole projects.

Community Work

Community Work is an initiative of the Australian Government, where people can work with an approved volunteer organi s ation, meet mutual obligation requirements, earn Training Credits, and improve their skills and employment prospects .

Want to be a Work for the Dole Sponsor?

Sponsor organisations work with CWCs to provide work experience opportunities for participants.  As a sponsor, you can access people and funding to conduct community activities that otherwise you may not be able to run.  You can negotiate what level of responsibility you have as a sponsor and an appropriate Work Experience funding allocation.  Contact EnviTE NSW for information.
