EnviTE Environment is the regional provider for Land for Wildlife on behalf of the Community Environment Network (CEN) in the Coffs Harbour and Bellingen area. Land for Wildlife encourages and assists voluntary biodiversity conservation on private land. The program connects and supports landholders to maintain wildlife habitats on their land. Private landholders play a key role in nature conservation because large portions of native vegetation and wildlife habitat, and many threatened and endangered species are located on private properties.
Since July 2017 Envite have registered 13 properties under Land for Wildlife. Properties are assessed by our restoration ecologists identifying biodiversity values, management issues and how to integrate wildlife habitat conservation with other land management practices.
Landowners who have a minimum of half a hectare of native vegetation are eligible to participate in Land for Wildlife. Simply fill in an Expression of Interest for and an EnviTE restoration ecologist will undertake an ecological assessment on the property at no cost. Conservation of wildlife habitat is integrated with other land uses including agriculture. Registration of the property is free, not-legally binding and does not alter the title of the property or allow public access.
