Restoring and connecting koala habitat – Lismore base

Restoring and connecting koala habitat – Lismore base 2017-08-08T10:12:42+00:00

Project Description

Completed June 2017

The Green Army will work with Lismore City Council and the community to restore koala habitat on public and private land in north-west of Lismore Local Government Area. Participants will control weeds, which block access to food trees and limit koala movement across the landscape. Participants will gain skills in plant propagation and plant trees to connect and extend koala habitat. Participants will provide practical support at community Landcare events, which raise awareness about threats to koalas such as habitat loss, dogs, cars and disease. Training will be provided in first aid, workplace health and safety and conservation and land management.
