Envite operates across a vast range of ecosystems and environments, from the cool temperate rainforests of East Gippsland to the dry tropics of Northern Queensland, delivering an array of different projects.
The Envite Exchange Program offers selected high performing staff, who demonstrate the Workways values and a strong commitment to their role, the opportunity to embark on a week long, expenses paid trip to work on a project in another Envite area OR a professional development opportunity.
Adele Carter, Traineeship Supervisor for Envite Gold Coast, recently embarked on her exchange to Envite Townsville and filed the following report on her return:
It was great to meet Natasha Rodwell and her Skilling Queenslanders for Work crew, as well as the crew on Magnetic Island, who are doing such a great job and are so passionate about doing the right thing for the Island and the community.
I worked with both of the teams and was so inspired by meeting more people who are as keen as me to make a positive impact on natural environment. Though our landscapes, species and techniques may be a little different, the reason why we do what we do is the same – for the pure love of it.
It wasn’t just a holiday, the crews had me working hard to clear environmental weeds from the coastal areas, as part of their turtle habitat restoration projects. One thing that really stuck with me was the impact that weeds are having on nesting turtle species, particularly of Siratro, as they not only get tangled in the vine but the deep roots prevent the turtles from digging.
I also got to visit the Magnetic Island Network for Turtles clinic, which is run entirely by volunteers, including Tash. I braved a swim in the ocean despite being days out from stinger season and enjoyed much delicious seafood!
Congratulations, Adele, on your selection for the Envite Exchange Program, and thank you for your dedication to environmental restoration, professional development, and sharing of knowledge.
