Our Skilling Queenslanders for Work traineeship team in Townsville had the pleasure of meeting with local Member of Parliament, Di Farmer. This team is the first of many intakes for the year.

The traineeship runs over an 18 week period in which participants are given many skills and certificates with the aim to help them find their passion and increase their chance at gaining and retaining employment.

The team is working with James Cook University and the Rockwheelers MTB Club – Townsville to conduct weed eradication and bush regeneration projects. Some of the people in this group haven’t had a job for a while. Some of them especially want to get work in conservation.

The statistics are in, those involved in the program have a 74% chance of retaining a job position.

Our Skilling Queenslanders for Work program is one of the most successful traineeships in Australia. The overall feedback from the team is that they’re now really excited about their future and feel a sense of direction and purpose in their lives now.
